CRASH | Workshop with Teresa Vittucci | Kem School 2026
How can narrative and affect serve as performative strategies that disrupt conventions, activate presence and open up spaces for critical inquiry?
Kem School invites Teresa Vittucci to facilitate a process of embodied research, spontaneous compositions, parasitic practices and feedback loops that use humour, intuition and the art of failure as entry points for performative narratives. Participants will be engaging physically in the course in order to work with embracing uncertainty, and happy failure, rather than striving.
Teresa Vittucci’s practice spans contemporary performance, choreography, theatre, writing and therapeutic, trauma-informed approaches. Grounded in an intersectional queer and feminist perspective, Teresa’s work critically engages with narrative in pop culture, religion, history, and the politics of the body, using humor as both a compositional method and a political intervention. Teresa’s artistic inquiry centers on the poetics and problems of vulnerability, class, gender and belonging, articulating performance as a motor for and site of embodied critique and transformation.

The workshop is open to a group of 15 participants and free to attend. It is open to makers and performers from the fields of dance, theatre, performance, clown, visual arts and others that are interested in working with and creating from their body. Since there is a limited amount of space, please only apply if you plan to attend the whole workshop, together with the public sharing at the end.

Teresa Vittucci (they/she) is an artist practicing across the fields of contemporary performance, dance, theater and visual art. Their work investigates feminist and queer perspectives on the body, pop culture, history, religion and class. Bad jokes are always part of the process, humor being an essential aspect of her work with abstraction. Their work interweaves movement, text, voice practice and spatial design with critical fabulation and theoretical research as ways to think through - and with - the body as a political terrain.
As a fat, neurodivergent, and queer artist Teresas perspective and practice is shaped equally by lived bodily experience as by formal and in-formal education. Both positionalities infuse her practice and aesthetic. Their work has been presented at Swiss Dance Days, ImPulsTanz, Deutsches Theater Berlin, Festival Santarcangelo, Arsenic, ADC, Centre Pompidou, Basel Social Club, Kinani Festival, Spielart and Sommerfestival Kampnagel to name a few.
Vittucci won the Swiss Dance Prize in 2019 as well as a Recognition Prize of the City of Zurich andshe lives and works in Zurich. Trained at Music and Arts University Vienna, the Ailey School New York and SEAD Salzburg, Teresa also holds a Master of Expanded Theater from University of the Arts Bern and is a certified Somatic Experiencing Practitioner.
